The Government Travel Group (GTG) was devised
and introduced by Carlson Wagonlit Travel in 1996. It was
an innovative way of maximising the purchasing power of the
UK Government as a whole. Today, the CWT Government Travel
Group is the largest supplier to the UK Government –
with more than 14 core travel contracts and an annual expenditure
in excess of £90 million.
By uniting all the Government Departments into
a single consortium, Carlson Wagonlit Travel has been able
to demonstrate to existing and potential suppliers of travel
services the very real advantage of being a preferred supplier
to GTG.
As a result, the rates and fares that are enjoyed
by CWT’s Government Travel Group are not available through
any other business travel management company. It is indeed
a unique service in the truest sense of the word.
